Start of biopolymer testing
Birth Garden Zema
In 2000 we started experimenting with compostable biopolymers, such as Novamont’s Mater-Bi and began working with recycled plastics.
The first result was the birth of Garden Zema, a line produced with recycled plastics, characterized by highly innovative contents and which aims to combine the aesthetics of wrought iron with the advantages of thermoplastic resins.
Product catalog expansion
Over the years we have continued to expand the Zema line, creating articles that in some cases have made history such as the Super Pierino, Lola, Kaimano and introducing numerous other types of products in addition to clothes pegs.
Birth of Zema
The Zema brand was born in the 1970s and is the acronym of the initials of the then partners Zuliani Enrico and Munarini Antonio. The third generation of the Munarini family still holds managerial roles in the company.
Automation of the production process
At the same time we began to automate the production process, often with machines designed and built in-house. It was in those years that the factory changed radically, taking on the structure of a modern industry.
Molding of plastic clothespins
During the 1950s we began to combine woodworking machinery with the first presses for thermoplastic molding and we were among the first in the world to create a plastic clothes peg.
Company name registration
This is where our name comes from and the current company name registered in 1941. We soon moved on to producing wooden laundry clips for domestic use.
Company foundation
For almost a century we have been producing and distributing quality products for the home. In the first years after the foundation, at the beginning of the 20th century, we produced large wooden tongs for the tanning industry, which was very developed in the area.
